   The Armenian Language and Cultural Center was founded in December of 2001. Rector of Moscow State Linguistic University I.I.Khaleeva, rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University S.Zolyan, president of the Armenian Union of Russia A.Abramyan, the Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the RF S.Saakyan actively helped to establish the Armenian Language and Cultural Center. The head of the Novo-Nakhichevan and Russian Eparchy of the Armenian Apostle Church the bishop Ezras blessed the opening of the Center.
   Chairman of Duma Committee on Commonwealth of Independent States P.Pastuchov, professor of MSUFA A.Migranyan, chairman of Armenian National Assembly A. Hachaturyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the RF S.Saakyan, poetess S.Kaputikyan were present at the grand opening ceremony of The Armenian Language and Cultural Center.
   In July of 2005 the first group of students mastering the Armenian language graduated from MSLU. At present ten students of the Translation and Interpreting Faculty are studying Armenian at the Armenian Language and Cultural Center. Classes are held by lecturer of MSLU Komarova Ruzana Akopovna. The Center aims at teaching the language by means of studying culture and history of the Armenian people. In the study of the Armenian language audio-video materials, a library introducing Armenian literature, architecture, painting and history are used. Fee-paying Armenian language training courses for all comers are organized at the Centre.
   The Center closely collaborates with the Moscow Armenian Community, the Moscow Armenian Commonwealth, the Ararat Community Center, the social-cultural organization “Mission-Education-Collaboration” and other organizations promoting Armenian culture. Students of the Center were invited to the meetings with Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, to various events dedicated to the Days of Armenian Culture in Moscow, to plays of Sundukyan State Academic Theatre of Yerevan.
   Every month roundtable discussions dedicated to Armenian language teaching problems are held at the Center.
Students of the Center have organized meetings and debates with the Italian writer D.Guaita (the author of the book “1700 years of Faithfulness”), with artists in Gallery-A, with Armenian students of other Moscow higher education institutions and celebration of Armenian Easter.
   Students learning the Armenian language at the Center have visited Armenia, where they got acquinted with the country’s centuries-old culture.
   In December in 2003 The Armenian Language and Cultural Center together with the Kazakh, Kirghiz and Ukrainian Language and Cultural Centers, the Language and culture center for Canada and the Center of Francophone studies organized a students’ poetic contest, where poems in 15 languages were recited. Tischenko Katya, a third-year student, won in the contest with her translation of Vaan Teryan’s poems; Kudryavzeva Katya, a fourth-year student, won the special prize for her translation of Avetik Isaakyan’ prose.
   Feature films of Armenian directors and documentary films dedicated to Armenia are shown in the Center.
The Center is planning to give lectures on Armenian history, literature and religion. The Center is looking for people interested in cooperation and participation in its future programmes.
