Those who delivered a speech at the opening ceremony expressed confidence in the role the centre would play in encouraging closer relations between the two countries and promoting the language and culture.
Chancellor of Moscow State Linguistic University, Khaleeva I.I., noted that specialists with knowledge of the Azerbaijani Language would get their university diplomas in three years. The direction of Baku Slavic University has made a valuable contribution in the training of these specialists. At the same time, experts in Russian language and literature are being trained in BSU with the help of MSLU. It was also underlined that cooperation and understanding like that is impossible without deep mutual respect.
At the artristic part of the event the students of MSLU who study the Azerbaijani language recited the poems by Pushkin,Esenin and Azerbaijani poets in the Azerbaijani language.
At present eight Russian students are studying the Azerbaijani language at Moscow State Linguistic University.
Audio- and video material, the whole complex of books and tutorials are used during the process of education. Besides that, the Centre has its own library with tutorials, fiction, books on the art and history of the Azerbaijani nation. It helps the professors and the students to prepare for the lessons and to learn the culture of Azerbaijan.
