The Chair of Civil Law Disciplines provides the following courses:
a) for students who are training for the qualification of “Jurisprudence”: Civil Law; Civil Proceedings; Arbitration Proceedings; Labour Law; Environment Law; Land Law; International Private Law; Financial Law; Family Law; Russian Business Law; Commercial Law; Banking Law.
b) for students who are specializing in economy: Science of Law; Legal Groundwork for Economy; Civil Law and Merchant Law of foreign countries; International Private Law; Legal Regulation in Marketing; Legal Regulation in Tourism;
c) for students who are training for the qualification “Organization and Technology of Information Security”: Legal Protection of Information;
d) for students who are training for the qualification “Records Management”: Civil Law; Labour Law.
The Chair of Criminal Law Disciplines provides the following courses:
a) for students who are training for the qualification “Jurisprudence”: Criminal Law; Criminal Proceedings: Forensics; Expertology; Criminology; Law Enforcement; Penal Law; Prosecutors’ Supervision; Bar (Practice of Law); Criminal Law of Foreign countries; Forensic Psychiatry; Forensic Medicine.
b) for students who are not specializing in law: Law of Science.
Linguistic training of law students is conducted by the professors of the Chair of Linguistics and Professional Communication in the Sphere of Law: Practical Course of (1st and 2nd) foreign language; professional translation from (1st and 2nd) foreign language; Practicum of Professional Communication of (1st and 2nd) foreign language (English, German, French and Spanish).
Starting from 2011/2012 the law department of the Faculty of Economics and Law will admit students for studies for the degree of Bachelor in the direction of training “Jurisprudence” 030900.
To ensure closer interaction of the fundamental science and practice of law, a forensic laboratory and an instructional courtroom were created and equipped with the state of the art technologies. On the basis of the forensic laboratory, classes are held for the students, employees of expert institutions of the Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Security Service are retrained. Technologies in the courtroom allow to use the electronic information resource, to record and reproduce videomaterials. It gives an opportunity not only to adapt the students to their future professional activities, but also it encourages development of the working skills with the use if technical means, the application of these means is permitted by criminal Proceedings Law. In the courtroom business games are held, simulating court proceedings, including in foreign languages with phase-by-phase discussion of results.
One of the newest methods of teaching is connected with introduction of 3D visualization into education. Students, without leaving the classroom, may as if be present at the scene of the crime and conduct relevant investigation activities—search, seizure, confrontation etc. The programme is aimed at correcting possible mistakes, vividly demonstrating the relevant proceedings, creating the possibility to choose the behaviour pattern in a specific reality situation for different participants of the proceedings, and the student may play the role of this or that participant of the proceedings.

Every year professors and lecturers of the Chairs publish textbooks for the institutions of higher education on Criminal Law, Criminology, Forensics, Civil Law, Penal Law, monographs on topical issues of law. The results of scientific research, conducted by professors and lecturers and postgraduate students, are published in Vestnik of MSLU, series “Law”.
The practice of law students of the Faculty of Law and economics is an integral part of the basic educational programme. The plan of studies envisages the following types of practice (practical activities): practical training (3rd year), work training (5th year), pregraduation practice (6th year). Students of the Law Chair have their practice in different bodies of state power (the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia), international organizations (the Red Cross, Moscow Representative Office of the United Nations), scientific research institutes (All-Union Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of the Interior), courts, Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement bodies, Offices of Attorneys at Law, Law Departments of different organizations and firms.
