The Department of Political Science trains political scientists of a broad specialization with the command of foreign languages.
Political scientists work professionally in the sphere of political science. Among the institutions of political scientists’ professional activity there are educational and research centers, governmental authorities and autonomous bodies, consulting officers, social and political organizations. The graduates of the Department are engaged in the following types of professional activity: research and development, organization of politics, counseling and High School teaching.
The students specializing in political sciences, study:
a) first and foremost, disciplines of general humanitarian scope: history of Russia, science of law, economics, the Russian language and culture of speech, philosophy, new and modern history, culturology and sociology.
b) disciplines of general professional scope: history of political sciences, theory of politics, comparative political science, political philosophy, political sociology, political psychology, political relations and political process in modern Russia, world politics and international relations, political history of Russia, political analysis and prognostication, political management, political science of regions, basis of geopolitics.
c) special courses: global ecology, political science of conflicts, political science of regions, ethnopolitical science, governmental administration policy.
d) practical and professionally oriented courses of foreign languages.
The students undergo professional and teaching training in governmental structures, international organizations, scientific bodies, the media, High schools and schools. Students interested in scientific research, have an opportunity to continue education as postgraduates of specialization 23.00.04 – Political problems of international relations, global and regional development.
Among the faculty of the Department there are outstanding political scientists, Doctors of Science, Professors Y.V. Sinchuk, T.S. Yashkova, B.D. Chashikhin, L.I. Maneshina, Associate Professors R.E. Abgoryan, Y.A. Uvarov, B.V. Khilko, I.L. Shershnev.
