The Maurice Thorez Institute of Foreign Languages / Moscow State Linguistic University

On January 24, MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva hosted a two-hour long “Rector Chat”, a new format of dialogue with students, in the University Assembly Hall. About 150 students turned out for the event,  prepared with questions and interested in the answers.
The questions concerned a variety of topics including the University dress code, the best way to conduct physical education classes, international study placements, the quality of education, academic programmes for certain study areas and specializations, the schedule of classes, student accomodation and living conditions, food quality and service at the University canteens, and other topics of interest and concern.
The informal discussion was very open and productive, with Rector Kraeva answering more than fifty questions asked both offline and online. Before the chat, students could also send their questions and proposals to the Rector at hotliner@linguanet.ru, or drop them into special boxes in the University.
The dialogue was for the benefit both of the students and the University administration. This admittedly successful format will continue.
