The MSLU Centre for Ibero-American Programmes was set up in 1991 with the aim of promoting Russian interests in the region.
The goals of the Centre include cooperation between universities, promotion of Russia's achievements in scholarship, culture, literature and art, coordination of Ibero-American studies in Russia, improving the language skills of MSLU students through intercultural communication and learning about new research of Ibero-American scholars in the fields of linguistics, international relations and social and political sciences.
The MSLU Centre for Ibero-American Programmes:
The Centre acts as a contact point for workshops, conferences and meetings between Ibero-American and Russian artists and intellectuals. The Centre's signature projects include satellite link-ups joining Moscow with Mexico (2009) and Brazil (2011), student essay contests centering on their knowledge of Chile and Venezuela, presentations of MSLU FLT methodology, lectures by Colombian academics devoted to the life and work of Alvaro Mutiz (2014), an international seminar on Russian-Mexican relations (2015), etc.
