Генри Лю – 13-й президент Международной федерации переводчиков, почетный советник при Международной федерации переводчиков, доктор наук, переводил на встречах высшего уровня и международных конференциях, в том числе на форуме АТЭС. Оказал активное содействие в деле официального признания 30 сентября Международным днем переводчика. Выступает с лекциями и мастер-классами по переводу на локальном, региональном и международном уровнях в Европе, Азии, Северной и Латинской Америке, Океании, в том числе на конференции JIAMCATT(Международная ежегодная конференция по компьютерному переводу и терминологии) в Женеве. Выступал на церемонии в честь первого празднования Международного дня переводчика в штаб-квартире ООН в Нью-Йорке.

An indepth look into the evolving role of translators and interpreters and the future of Language Technology

Dr Henry Liu is a consultant interpreter in English, Chinese and French. Experienced at the highest level of professional interpreting, he has been an interpreter for heads of state and other dignitaries. He has been involved in many international conferences, including APEC, and has accompanied many missions abroad. His specialties are law, diplomacy and international trade.

Henry is a champion for the profession. He was instrumental in the recent United National General Assembly Resolution 71/288 in recognition the role of professional translation in peace, understanding and development as well as the world wide recognition of 30th September as the International Translation Day (ITD).

An opinionated advocate of professional organisations and a strong believer in trans-national and multidisciplinary co-operation, Henry is a Past President of NZSTI and the 13th President of the International Federation of Translators (FIT). In the most recent FIT Congress in 2017, he was appointed to Lifetime Honorary Advisor to FIT.

He is an active interpreting and translation educator locally, regionally and internationally. Henry has given Keynote addresses in major T&I conferences in Oceania, North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. He has given keynote opening at the JIAMCATT in Geneva and the inaugural ITD lecture at the UN in New York in celebration of the first International Translation Day.
