Seminar "Russian-Cuban Cooperation: Results and Prospects"

On December 18, an International Scientific and Practical Seminar titled "Russian-Cuban Cooperation: Results and Prospects" took place at MSLU.

Rector Irina Kraeva addressed the participants with an opening speech, emphasizing the importance of collaborative work in the field of linguistic education and the study of information security issues conducted jointly by MSLU and Cuban universities. In turn, the Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendia, provided specific examples of such collaboration, highlighting its development in line with the national interests of both countries.

Deputy Director of the Latin American Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrey Guskov, shared his experience as the Russian Ambassador to Cuba from 2018 to 2023. Senior Researcher at the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Magomed Kodzoev, delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the main outcomes of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership, which has been successfully developing for 65 years. He particularly emphasized the directions where the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation appear most mutually beneficial. President of the Association of Russian Diplomats, Igor Khalevinskiy, shared his impressions from personal meetings with Fidel Castro. He noted the significant role that the leader of the Cuban revolution played not only in his country but also on the international stage.

As part of the event, the director of the Center for Linguocultural Studies of CELAC, Olga Kurchatkina, presented the Russian-Cuban Youth Creative Writing Contest. Colleagues from the Creative Workshop of the University of Matanzas supported the idea of further intensifying ties with MSLU, emphasizing the importance of student exchanges, academic mobility, and the implementation of joint research projects.

The seminar concluded with brief messages from students Dmitry Kuznetsov and Konstantin Komarov from the Institute of International Relations and Social-Political Sciences of MSLU.

The seminar generated significant interest among all the participants, who asked the speakers numerous questions.
