Aitmatov Readings: Dialogue of Kyrgyz and Russian Cultural Codes

From December 1 to December 12, 2023, an international forum titled "Aitmatov Readings" took place in Bishkek at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin, commemorating the 95th anniversary of the classic of world literature, philosopher, and humanist.

The event was organized by Moscow State Linguistic University and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The participants were welcomed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky, Chinghiz Aitmatov's son – Eldar Aitmatov, the rector of MSLU and the chair of the Forum's Organizing Committee Irina Kraeva, and other authoritative scholars and public figures.

Within the scientific block of "Aitmatov Readings," there was an expert discussion on issues such as: the dialogue of languages and cultures in the works of Chinghiz Aitmatov; the legacy of the classic in the context of global art and the contemporary academic space of the CIS; the artistic worldview of the bilingual author.

Additionally, the Forum featured the presentation of the new edition of the collective scientific-methodical publication "The Phraseological World of Chingiz. Aitmatov."
