Yan Burlyai, Director of the MSLU Center for Ibero-American Programs, Takes Part in a Teleconference on Russia-South America Cooperation

The Rossiya Segodnya media group held an online conference on collaboration between the Mercosur member countries and Russia. The agenda included the discussion of our country's cooperation with Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay which are members of the South American Common Market.

In the course of the event the experts discussed the current state of relations between the Latin American continent and Russia, the problems that hinder expansion of this cooperation, as well as the prospects for partnership development.

During the discussion Yan Burlyai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Director of the MSLU Center for Ibero-American Programs, mentioned "a new instrument in the form of the International Fund for Technological Development, which aims to promote the transfer of advanced technologies between Russia and other countries". He expressed his hope that Mercosur member countries would be interested in the initiative emphasizing the "need to concentrate efforts on establishing direct links between Russia and Mercosur."
