Admission Requirements

Moscow State Linguistic University offers a wide range of programmes and courses at three academic levels in a variety of areas of knowledge. The programmes have their own entry requirements specified in the programme descriptions. Applicants for any programme are selected on the basis of documented prior academic achievements and entrance examination results (for certain specialties). Please check the relevant programme description for entry details before applying.

The minimum entry requirements are:

  • for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes 
    A completed secondary education or a completed vocational education (or equivalent) plus a pass score for the Unified State Examinations.

  • for Master’s Degree Programmes 
    A completed Bachelor’s Degree plus a pass score for relevant (pre-Master's level) MSLU entrance examinations/interview.

  • for Doctoral Degree Programmes 
    A completed Master’s Degree or Specialist Degree plus a pass score for relevant (pre-Doctoral level) MSLU entrance examinations/interview.

To apply for a Bachelor’s Degree programme, you need to provide a Certificate of the Unified State Examinations: in Russian and two other subjects of your choice.

To apply for a Master’s Degree programme, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree or a higher qualification.

To enroll on a Doctoral programme, you must have a Master’s (or Specialist’s) degree.

Applicants for Master’s Degree programmes are required to sit entrance examinations in a foreign language and their area of study.

Applicants for Doctoral programmes are required to sit entrance examinations in (a) a foreign language (b) their area of study and (c) History and Philosophy of Science.
