Russia–Africa relations: Ambassador on Special Assignments Oleg Ozerov visits MSLU

On October 2, Oleg Ozerov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ambassador on Special Assignments, Head of the Secretariat of the Economic Forum “Russia-Africa”, orientalist, arabist, came to give a talk to MSLU students and faculty. He worked in Syria, Tunisia, France, worked as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Saudi Arabia, and held various positions in the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Mr. Ozerov spoke about the history of Russia’s cooperation with African countries, emphasizing that out of 54 African countries, Russia cooperates with 48. He stressed that that cooperation with African countries can be mutually beneficial.

Then he highlighted the work and results of the second Summit and the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which took place in St. Petersburg on July 27-28 and where the main directions for further joint work were identified, plans were outlined to strengthen foreign policy coordination, increase trade and investment flows, industrial cooperation between Russia and the countries of the African continent. Many from the audience worked as interpreters at this Forum, so they asked the guest relevant questions.
