On April 26, Professor Antonella Sorace (University of Edinburgh, Scotland) met with the faculty and students of MSLU. The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting and the Centre for International Cooperation. Professor Sorace delivered a lecture in English Changes in the Native Language of Second Language Learners, which was devoted to bilingualism in the modern world. After the lecture Antonella Sorace answered students’ questions both in English and in Italian. They discussed such topics as bilingualism and multilingualism in the translation field, the advantages of speaking several languages and future projects on the phenomenon of bilingualism.

Antonella Sorace is a world leading authority in the field of bilingual language development, where she brings together methods from linguistics, experimental psychology, and cognitive science. She is also committed to disseminating the findings of research on bilingualism in different sectors of society. She is the founding director of the information and public engagement centre Bilingualism Matters, which has 14 branches all over Europe and in the US.
