International Conference on Romance Studies Held at MSLU

On March 26, MSLU hosted the international academic conference “Romance Studies in the Context of Global Change”, bringing together leading specialists in Romance linguistics to discuss the role of Romance languages in today’s world.

The conference opened with welcoming remarks by Olga Iriskhanova, Vice-Rector for Research, and Elena Fedyaeva, Dean of the Faculty of French. A total of 137 participants from leading Russian universities, as well as guests from Belarus, Azerbaijan, and China, took part in the event.

The programme included five thematic sections covering intercultural communication, cognitive and corpus studies, language teaching, and linguistic responses to a changing world, alongside a Young Researcher Section dedicated to emerging scholarship in Romance studies.

The conference also featured workshops on contemporary French grammar and communication in modern French-speaking environments.
