Lectures on European Intellectual Culture

On February 5–9, MSLU offered a module-based international interdisciplinary training programme "European Intellectual Culture." The programme is aimed at professional development of teachers of humanities, popularizing research and sharing experience with foreign colleagues. It includes a series of lectures in Linguistics and Philosophy read in French by leading foreign researchers. 
The programme is intended for teachers of the French language, philosophy, history, cultural studies and other humanities, as well as for young researchers, graduate and postgraduate students, and all those interested in modern Francophone studies. 
This time the lectures were read by Iacopo Costa from the French National Center for Scientific Research and the Leonine Commission (Commissio leonina), a group of scholars working on the ongoing project of critically editing the works of Thomas Aquinas. He spoke about moral and ethical theology of Aquinas’ moral and ethical theory. Each lecture ended with a discussion.The students also had an opportunity to attend optional language classes and go to guided tours.
The programme was organized by MSLU's Institue of Humanities and Applied Sciences, the Maurice Thorez Institute of Foreign Languages (the Faculty of French), and the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. Simultaneous interpretation was provided by the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.
