Celebrating the Russian Language Day at MSLU

Russian Language Day introduced by the UN is celebrated on 6 June, the date traditionally observed as the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The purpose of the UN's language days is to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, promote equal use of all six UN official languages. as well as aim to entertain and inform, with the goal of increasing awareness and respect for the history, culture and achievements of each of the six working languages among the UN community.

Irina Kraeva, rector of MSLU, shared her ideas about the significant role of the Russian language and congratulated students and teachers, this year online.

Online welcoming remarks came from Dmitry Chumakov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN; Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow; Konstantin Orlov, Head of the Russian Interpretation Section of the UN Secretariat in New York; Anton Uspensky, UN News Service Correspondent.

The Russian language has been for 90 years the key factor for the competencies of MSLU graduates:  linguists, interpreters, journalists, sociologists, lawyers, to name just a few.

MSLU embraces the Institute of International Educational Programs (formerly the Faculty for the Training of Foreign Citizens), being one of the largest centers of international education in Russia. The Institute has trained more than 2,500 graduates from more than 80 countries.
