Course outline for foreign student

coming to MSLU for the period from 2 weeks up to 10 months

I part

I. Practical course of the Russian language for beginners (beginning and elementary levels) – 12-20 hours/week

II. Practical course of the Russian language for low intermediate, intermediate, advanced levels

System and norm of the language

1. Practical phonetics – 2-4 hours/week

2. Practical grammar – 4-6 hours/week

3. Practical stylistics – 2-4 hours/week

4. Spheres of conversation (depends on the level of language proficiency)^

1) Practice of written and oral speech – 4-6 hours/week

2) Language of mass media – 2-4 hours/week

3) Text analysis (belles letters style) – 2-4 hours/week

4) Language of business communication

a. Business language:

- Negotiations

- Meetings, discussions

- Firm presentation

- Business correspondence

- Language of advertisement

- Economic terminology

b. Language of law

5. Language of national mentality (language and culture) – 2-4 hours/week
