UN Simultaneous Interpreter’s Master Classes at MSLU

From June 7 to 11, the students of the Programme for Preparing for Language Competitive Exams as well as the students of the Induction Programme boosted their simultaneous interpretation skills at online master classes held by Nikolay Telnov.

The students were challenged with interpreting speeches delivered at the meetings of the UN General Assembly, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and others, while the expert analyzed the students' interpreting and gave professional advice.

From the very founding of the Program in 2017, Mr. Telnov has contributed greatly to developing interpreting skills of students as well as sharing background information about the UN system. Intensive language studies are held twice a year and are based on the teaching methods worked out by Mr. Telnov. Nikolay Telnov is a graduate of the UN courses at Maurice Thorez InYaz and has vast professional experience of over 30 years as a simultaneous interpreter at the UN Office in Vienna.

Under his personal supervision, the students of the Program underwent internships at the UN Office in Vienna in 2018-2019.
